Chicks in the mail!

Did you know that for the last 100 years the postal service has been delivering live baby chicks all over the US?! Isn't that so cool?!

Factoids like this make my inner science nerd so happy: baby chicks can survive for up to three days after hatching without food or water. Just before they hatch they absorb the yolk which gives them yummy nutrients and enables them to wait if mama bird has to leave the nest.

Of course we have figured out to use this to our advantage and for us here at Three Dog Farm it means that even though our local feed store was sold out of chicks, we could still add to our flock this year. Plus...I thought that folks could use a little zing of "Hope in a Box."

Because if this one doesn't get a little "awwww" outta ya then maybe it's time for a vacation! 😂
